Hopping bunny rabbits in the bushes and chocolate eggs on the shelves can only mean one thing… Easter is here!

While we’re all excited to tuck into tasty treats, two weeks is a long time to go with nothing to do, unless daily chocolate consumption counts as a structured activity! Thankfully, we’re here to give you just a few ideas of ways to keep your family busy this Easter. 

Animal Encounters

As per usual, Millet’s Farm Centre is full of fun family things to do. Farmer Carter’s Puzzling Courtyard opens on 28th March, giving mini adventurers (ages 3 – 10) the perfect place to get their minds working. Complete quirky quizzes, play garden games and explore Millet’s three woodlands and multiple different courtyard areas. Plus, with go karts, ride-on vehicles and sandpit adventures, there’s plenty of space for youngsters to roam wild. 

For families who enjoy belly laughs and mischievous mayhem, Millet’s Farm is also hosting Tweedy’s Massive Circus: The Big Number 2 between 26th March and 4th April. Tweedy’s tent may be small, but his plans are  huge, and armed with his friends and some wild ideas, he is determined to put on the best show ever. Expect a 90-minute whirlwind of clowning comedy and delightful disaster.

For some hands-on farming, look no further than Farmer Gows! Open every day of the Easter holidays, the Easter Eggstravaganza at the farm is a great way to get in contact with the natural world and livestock, especially coming into Spring. Aspiring young farmers can meet and feed the animals, tackle the giant Bale Climb and let off some steam in the adventure play areas. And if they’re still raring to go after that little lot, they could try out the tree-climbing walls and talking tubes before hopping on a pedal tractor to gather some eggs on an Easter hunt.  

There’s nothing more Springtime than little lambs frolicking in the fields. On 28th March and 11th April, Bishop’s Court Farm are sheparding visitors to their Open Lambing Days! Trot through the Maternity Ward to meet this years expectant mothers and some brand-new little lambs. Explore green fields and meet the mums and babies that have taken the big hop outside before meeting the alpacas and goats that live nearby. With a terrific treasure hunt, bouncy castle and country market stalls, there’s plenty to see and do to get the whole family ready for the spring season.

Connecting with Nature

On 22nd and 29th March, the Head Gardener at Bishop’s Court Farm will be hosting a brand new workshop that’s great for experienced gardeners and those just growing into it. Taking part, visitors will learn all about how to keep the perfect garden and develop their own green spaces. You’ll get the chance to make and take home your very own planted pot to help you get a head start on your springtime planting. Of course, no outdoor workshop is complete without a hot drink and tasty treat to reward yourself for all your hard work. Thankfully, the Snug is on-site for all your lunching needs.  

For the green-thumbed gardening enthusiasts, Science Oxford are hosting the Spring Seeds Nature Club on 4th April. Future botanists can get their hands dirty dissecting daffodil bulbs, discovering different seeds and learning all about the lifecycle of a plant, while exploring the signs of spring. Immersed in nature, families will work together to craft a sunflower pot to take home and watch it grow. Be sure to share photos of your prize flower online for a chance to win a free future visit.

Easter Hunts

For those with keen eyes and a spare set of bunny ears, Waterperry Gardens are hosting an eggtastic Big Easter Bunny Hunt between 28th March and 19th April. Accompanied by an adult, children can explore the springtime gardens while seeking colourful eggs. Once all are found and the activity sheet is complete, swing by the Garden Shop to collect a prize! Before your visit is over, be sure to visit the Tea Shop for a bite to eat or try one of their award-winning afternoon teas.  

For an adventure the whole family can enjoy, Stonor Park are hosting an Enchanted Easter Trail between the 28th March and 12th April. With an exciting an exciting mix of activities, there’s plenty to enjoy across the park. Visitors can follow a magical Easter trail through the gardens, with crafting sessions and storytelling along the way, all set against a picturesque backdrop.  Plus, youngsters will love climbing tall towers among the trees and exploring carvings and clues left behind in the playground by the colourful characters of Tumblestone Hollow. After all that haring around, the whole family is sure to have worked up an appetite. Thankfully, the Rumble and Jumble huts are on hand, serving delicious gelato, wood-fired pizzas and classic hamburgers to satisfy hungry visitors, young and old.

Getting Creative

With Great British weather being what it is, t there’s no guarantee the sun will shine every day of the Easter holidays. Some days, it’s just better to do something indoors to avoid any potential sniffles. The Oxford Playhouse is a great way to stay warm and still enjoy some Easter-time fun. On the 9th and 10th of April, Tales from Acorn Wood will be coming to the playhouse for toe-tapping songs, larger-than-life puppetry and all  your friends from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved storybooks. Help poor old Fox find his socks, play a game of hide-and-seek with Pig and Hen and discover the special surprise that Postman Bear is planning for all his friends.  

For something a bit more active and hands‑on, look no further than The North Wall Arts Centre, which, in addition to its broad programme of shows and cinema screenings, runs some brilliant creative workshops for children. Between 30th March and 1st April, the YouthLab: Monologues & Music Masterclass workshop is three days of theatrical fun. Perfect for young thespians between 12 and 17-years-old, the workshop teaches how to bring a monologue and dramatic performance to life through technique and music.  

For those more musically inclined, NW Inventors: Make a Musical is another three-day course for those aged 8 to 11. At the North Wall Dance Studio, students will learn how to combine skills to create an original mini-musical, discovering different ways of making music and devising a theatrical story while working together to create something magical.

Take a Tour

The Bunny Hop Trail is back for 2026 with City Sightseeing Oxford. Included in your bus tour ticket, the trail will take young adventurers to eggsplore Oxford as you journey on a quest to spot six elusive bunnies playing hide and seek.  Just pick up a trail card from your driver and get on the case. When you’ve found all six, head over to the City Sightseeing Oxford Visitor Information Point or the Gloucester Green Travel Shop to collect a special Easter reward.
