Brasenose College

Although the foundation stone was laid in 1509 by a lawyer, Sir Richard Sutton and the Bishop of Lincoln, William Smythe, it was not until 1512 that a royal charter was obtained from Henry VIII for the college to be built. It occupies the site of several medieval Oxford Halls.
