New Road

Request Only Stop: Please signal the driver if you wish to board or alight the tour bus at this stop.

Located in west central Oxford, New Road was built in 1769-70 as a turnpike designed to bypass the narrower Hythe Bridge Street to the north and St. Thomas’ Street to the south. It passes by Oxford Castle and the former Oxford Prison (now a hotel).

The Guide Friday City Sightseeing Oxford tour bus stops outside the Oxford Castle gates along New Road.
